“Tick, Tick…Boom!” At Bucks County Playhouse
Andy Mientus (Spring Awakening), Krystina Alabado (Mean Girls), and Noah J. Ricketts (Disney’s Frozen) are the stars of the upcoming Bucks County Playhouse production of Jonathan Larson’s Tick, Tick…Boom!, which will run in New Hope, Pa., June 23 through July 15. The production is directed by Eric Rosen alongside Executive Producer Robyn Goodman and Producing Director Alexander Fraser.
Tick, Tick…Boom! Is a high-octane rock musical that follows the life of a young composer facing his 30h birthday with little professional success to show for it. Based on his life before he wrote Rent, Larson’s Tick, Tick…Boom! Is a youthful, vibrant, and moving production reminding us that sometimes dreams do come true.
Larson’s life was unexpectedly cut short at the age of 35 when he died of an aortic dissection the day before the first preview performance of Rent in January 1996. For his work on Rent, Larson posthumously received the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Tony Awards for Best Book for a Musical and Best Original Score, and the Richard Rodgers Award, among other accolades. He twice received the Gillman & Gonzales-Falla Theatre Foundation’s Commendation Award, and his music and shows are archived in the Library of Congress.
