“The Pigeon Comes to Jersey City!”: A Mo Willems Exhibit
On view through September 5, 2022, at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, “The Pigeon Comes to Jersey City!” celebrates the art and characters of beloved children’s book author and illustrator Mo Willems. This young learner exhibition features best-friend duo Elephant and Piggie, faithful companion Knuffle Bunny, and The Pigeon, the wiley city bird best known for his antics in Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
Activities will give young guests a chance to make art that is inspired by Willems and to learn about the rich social and emotional lives of the author’s characters. The exhibition also features prints of illustrations, including sketches and other preliminary materials, by Willems. From trying out art techniques to building their own cityscape and launching foam hot dogs, children will love this interactive and educational exhibit.
The price of the exhibit is included with the purchase of general admission. Liberty Science Center is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. While wearing a facemask is recommended for Liberty Science Center visitors, it is not required. All surfaces within the museum are regularly sanitized throughout the day.
