Tech Product Review: Fitbit Charge 3
By Taylor Smith
With a wide array of fitness trackers available, Fitbit is probably the best-known name in terms of high-quality trackers. The user-friendly devices come in many style options and can suit everyone, no matter their fitness level. The trackers will monitor everything from basic daily movements to running, walking, swimming, cycling workouts, and sleeping.
One of the best overall Fitbits in terms of user-friendliness is the Fitbit Charge 3. The good screen size, affordable price point, and tracking features set this Fitbit apart. The Charge 3 can be used for a variety of activities including running, cycling, cardio, and strength training. It quickly tells you your heart rate (as well as your target heart rate), so that you can use your workout time efficiently. The Charge 3 also has an interval timer, which can be applied to HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Users can pause and re-start their workouts as many times as they like.
The Charge 3 offers connected GPS via your smartphone. Along with steps taken, the Charge 3 covers stairs climbed, calories burned, and in-depth sleep tracking. Interestingly, the sleep tracking allows you to compare your own sleep to your peers within the same age group. In terms of battery life, the Charge 3 lasts approximately six days before it needs to be fully recharged (this includes receiving alerts and text messages).
In summary, the Fitbit Charge 3 packs a lot of helpful features into one small gadget. One con is the fact that it doesn’t have a built-in GPS. For that, you’ll have to take a look at the Fitbit Ionic, which competes with companies like Apple for the leading item on the smartwatch marketplace.
