Princeton Garden Theatre Screening of “Christmas in Connecticut”
On Thursday, December 15 at 7 p.m., Princeton Garden Theatre presents a special screening of the holiday classic Christmas in Connecticut, starring Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan, Sydney Greenstreet, and directed by Peter Godfrey. Originally released in 1945, the film tells the story of Elizabeth Lane, a regular Martha Stewart, sharing her picturesque farm life and weekly recipes in newspaper columns read by housewives and homesick veterans throughout the world. The only problem is it’s all a ruse!
When her publisher arranges a weekend at home with her biggest fan, a wounded veteran, the city singleton hustles to turn her lies into reality, acquiring a husband, farm, and baby overnight. Considered to be one of Barbara Stanwyck’s best performances, the film was a box office success and reflected the overall mood of soldiers heading home after the end of WWII.
