For those who want to break bread with their families on Thanksgiving (November 28), but also want to spend it with their friends, the Yankee Doodle Tap Room at the Nassau Inn is offering FriendsGiving.

Gather your closest friends and enjoy FriendsGiving at the Yankee Doodle Tap Room, 10 Palmer Square East, on Sunday, November 17 at either of two seatings at 4 or 6:30 p.m.

The prix fixe menu includes a starter of spinach salad with cranberries and butternut squash. For the main course, roasted turkey will be served with sides of stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and a rich gravy. Last but not least, dessert offers a choice of apple or pumpkin pie. Special drinks are also available. The turkey dinner special is $30 per adult and $15 per child.

The Yankee Doodle Tap Room has a unique history. A Princeton institution since 1756, it began as a drinking club for Princeton University’s male students and faculty until the late 1970s when it was opened to the general population. Named after the mural painted by Norman Rockwell, which resides behind bar, the Tap Room’s historic charm includes the carvings of past guests in the solid oak tabletops, and a famous photo gallery of notable Princeton University graduates from the past century. At the far end of the room is a working fireplace with the inscription “Rest Traveler, Rest, and Banish Thoughts of Care; Drink to Thy Friends and Recommend Them Here,” which dates back to 1756, when the Nassau Inn was located on Nassau Street before it moved to Palmer Square in 1937.
