Flemington Department Store: For All Your Summer Camp Needs

My summer camp experiences as a child and teenager are some of my most vivid memories. Growing up in Princeton, I attended Rambling Pines Day Camp (https://www.ramblingpines.com) in Hopewell with my younger brother when I was 8 years old. I immediately enjoyed being able to spend all day outdoors, riding mountain bikes, playing tennis, and swimming, before taking the bus home — sweaty, contented, and freckled.
Preparing for any camp experience required the proper gear. My brother and I needed new bathing suits, swim goggles, towels, bug spray, sunscreen, large water bottles, backpacks, creek shoes, athletic shorts, etc., and Flemington Department Store (https://www.flemingtondepartmentstore.com) seemed to have it all.
When I embarked on my first year at sleepaway camp at Camp Rim Rock for Girls in Yellow Spring, West Virginia (http://camprimrock.com), at the age of 9, my parents took me back to Flemington Department Store where we purchased the very necessary “trunk,” which was a hard piece of luggage that would hold all of my supplies including my horseback riding gear, bath towels, clothing, and bedding. Speaking of bedding, Flemington has a great selection of sleeping bags. Mine was black and water resistant on the outside (for sleeping under the stars) and had turquoise flannel on the interior, which was perfect for the cold mountain air that settled over our hilltop cabins every night.
My first summer at Rim Rock flew by very quickly. In letters home, I reported that my horse’s name was Chestnut; I discovered that I loved chili and cornbread; every week we took the horses swimming in the icy Cacapon River; and my new friends hailed from Paris, North Carolina, Hungary, and Washington, D.C. I would return to Camp Rim Rock for three more summers from the ages of 10-13, and then once more, as a full-fledged camp counselor, during my junior year of college.
For each camp experience I was well prepared, having bought the majority of my supplies at Flemington Department Store. As a high school student at Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, Flemington was also a consistently good source for athletic gear and active wear. In fact, Flemington’s back-to-school shopping selection includes a huge array of school backpacks, fall and winter jackets from brands like North Face, chinos, denim, and flannels.
Take it from this former camper and camp counselor, Flemington Department Store has everything you need for a magic-making summer — and back-to-school fall.
