Celebrate George Washington’s Birthday at Washington Crossing Park

Bring the whole family to help George Washington celebrate his 288th birthday on Sunday, February 16 from noon to 4 p.m. at Washington Crossing Historic Park, located at 1112 River Road in Washington Crossing, Pa.

This free event includes various children’s activities, such as the new “Let’s Draw George!” drawing contest. Artists ages 12 and younger are invited to draw a picture of George at any age, in any historical situation. When the historical masterpiece is ready, neatly write the following information on the back of the drawing:

  1. The artist’s full name

  2. The artist’s home address and phone number

  3. The artist’s age (prizes offered to ages 12 and younger, but George welcomes submissions by everyone!)

To submit your artwork, bring the finished product to George’s birthday party on February 16 or mail the entry before the party to:

Friends of Washington Crossing Park

1112 River Road

Washington Crossing, PA 18977

Submissions will be judged in two categories: ages 7 and younger, and ages 8-12. Entries are welcome from artists of all ages, but only children 12 and younger are eligible for prizes. Park staff will select three winners in each category. The winning drawings will be displayed in the park Visitor Center, and winning artists will receive four free passes to Bowman’s Hill Tower, which commemorates a possible look-out site used by the Continental Army.

At 3 p.m., visitors will sing Happy Birthday to George and partake in the cake cut by his sword.
