On Saturday, May 7, 2016 McCarter Theatre hosted the Annual Gala Benefit Concert with International Grammy Award-winning pianist Lang Lang performing in Matthews Theatre. All proceeds go towards McCarter’s outstanding arts education and artistic programming. Here is a look at the fabulous guest list! This year’s after-party took place in the tent behind McCarter Theatre. The theme was inspired by Truman Capote’s 1960 “Black and White Ball.” more

The Arts Council of Princeton’s signature art and wine spring fundraiser Pinot to Picasso was held on Friday, April 29 in the Technology Center of Princeton on Carter Road.

The theme of the evening was electronics and robotics and this was reflected in both the atmosphere and the live art demonstrations. more

This Weekend in Princeton: April 8-10

Friday, April 8

7 p.m.: Princeton High School Asian Festival. Students will share many facets of Asian culture including Chinese calligraphy, tea making, sushi making, and festival displays. Students will also perform a Chinese Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, Chinese Kung Fu, Japanese song and dance, Indian singing, and a Chinese fashion show. The event will be held in the school’s gymnasium, Walnut Lane.

Executive Chef Luis Estrada was recently commissioned by the Philharmonia Orchestra of New York (PONY) to create a series of dishes inspired by symphonies being performed in a pair of concerts on March 29 and 30 at Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center to kickoff PONY’s spring season. more

A generation ago, those with a sophisticated palate in search of a place to dine in Princeton might have called it a food desert. There was French-ish Lahiere’s, serving the likes of Albert Einstein and the King of Jordan since 1919 (it closed in 2010); the Alchemist & Barrister offering up burgers and pub grub; and a handful of diners and Chinese and Greek restaurants. But about 20 years ago, all that started to change, and now Princeton and Hopewell draw fine dining enthusiasts from the greater metropolitan region. These days, all the moves and changes happen so quickly, they could be recited to the tune of “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General.” more

Caterer Max Hansen Opens New Catering Facility

Chef Max Hansen has announced plans for a 25,000-square-foot new catering venue in an old farmhouse on Carter Road in Hopewell. The $7 million project geared to weddings, corporate events, and catered affairs is scheduled to open by the summer of 2017. The project will create some 100 full-time jobs.

The location will also become the headquarters for Mr. Hansen’s entire operation. For the past 25 years, Max & Me Catering, Max Hansen Caterer, and Max Hansen Carversville Grocery in Bucks County have served the area. more
