Photographer Ricardo Barros To Speak on “Figuring Space”

The 2017 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, “Holland: Flowering the World,” celebrates the beauty and ingenuity of Dutch culture, from vivid flower fields to innovative eco-design, on view through Sunday, March 19 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

20 acclaimed films with filmmakers and other speakers presented over seven days.

The 2017 Princeton Environmental Film Festival opens Monday, March 27, and runs through Sunday, April 2. Now in its 11th year, the award-winning festival features a lineup of 20 acclaimed films with filmmakers and other speakers presented over seven days. Films and additional programs are scheduled both during the day and in the evening at the library, on the Princeton University campus and at the Princeton Garden Theatre. more

Can lighting design make the world a better place? In the post-election season, award-winning lighting designer Jane Cox was struggling with the answer. Her mother ran Amnesty International in Ireland, working with political prisoners-an experience that had a formative impact on Cox. Lighting design, by contrast, seemed a frivolous pursuit. more

Art Garfunkel, one of the most celebrated voices in American music, will perform at Princeton University’s Richardson Auditorium on Tuesday, December 13 at 4:30 p.m.

Dining by Design, the Arts Council of Princeton’s signature annual fall gala, was held at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton Township on Saturday, November 12. This year’s theme, Eye Candy, was inspired by the art exhibit Rattle by Paul Henry Ramirez on view in Grounds for Sculpture’s West Gallery. The evening featured cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live modern dance, Party Boards, a multi-course dinner catered by STARR Events, and an exciting live auction. The choreography and direction of the dancers was the work of Dawn Cargiulo Berman, director of The Pennington Studio for Dance and the Creative Arts. Berman engaged dancers from the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company and Pilobolus Dance Theater to be a part of the evening. The event proved to be a major success, raising funds for the Arts Council of Princeton’s many community programs including their scholarship fund, which benefits local students.

Over 200 guests gathered in celebration of D&R Greenway Land Trust’s Moonlight Masquerade, Down to Earth Ball where discussions included current and future projects within the nonprofit. Conversations consisted of the continuous land preservation work D&R Greenway has been known for since its founding in 1989. New projects include Trenton’s Capital City Farm and a storytelling app for Abbott Marshlands. “If there’s one thing everyone can agree on it’s leaving our children and future generations clean air and a beautiful landscape view,” said Meredith Asplundh Gardner, host of this year’s Gala at historic Tusculum and co-chair Masquerade Ball Committee. more

Rings are conversation pieces. Some tell the story of a wedding engagement or a family heirloom, while others tell of a person’s passions, heritage, or sense of style. The pieces in the “Nothing But Rings” exhibit at the Diana Vincent Jewelry Gallery in Lambertville tell a story of design excellence. The exhibition showcases rings created by visionary jewelry designers from Canada to California. Their stunning creations will be on display and available for purchase at the Diana Vincent Contemporary Fine Jewelry Gallery located at 12 North Union Street in Lambertville, New Jersey until December 9. more
