Cape May Lighthouse Now Open Daily
The New Jersey Shore’s iconic Cape May Lighthouse is now open daily to visitors through September 30, 2021. The 160-year-old nautical landmark welcomes people to climb the 199 stairs to the watch gallery, where they can take in the panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The present tower, which is the third documented lighthouse at the southern tip of New Jersey, has been an aid to ships and navigators since it was built in 1859. More than 2.5 million visitors have climbed the lighthouse since it opened to the public in 1988. For those who prefer not to climb, the Oil House on the grounds contains a fully accessible Visitors’ Orientation Center and Museum Shop containing souvenirs, books, and maritime memorabilia. The state park also offers many activities for nature lovers and summertime fun.
Cape May Lighthouse is located at Lighthouse Avenue on Cape May Point. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children (ages 3-12). A Lighthouse Full Moon Climb is scheduled for April 27, May 26, June 24, July 23, and August 22, 2021 from 8-10 p.m. To learn more, visit https://capemaymac.org/experience/cape-may-lighthouse/.
