Join the city of Long Branch on April 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the annual Pier Village Kite Festival. This seaside event draws visitors from around the state to watch kite flyers launch their most incredible creations.

Every kind of kite imaginable will be at the festival. Kites of all shapes and sizes – from inflatable flying creatures to traditional kites – will be flying high over the beach between Avenue and McLoone’s Pier House in Long Branch. Families will also enjoy inflatable rides, craft and artisan vendors, shopping and dining, and prizes and giveaways from 94.3 The Point and 105.7 The Hawk.

A host of kite fliers from area kite clubs will be attending the festival. This year, members of the South Jersey Kite Flyers, Liberty High Spirits of New Jersey, Kites Over New England, Wings Over Washington, Richmond Air Force, Connectikiters, and Keystone Kiters will all be flying high over Long Branch.

At family fun tradition, the Running of the Bols competition will be awarded to parents and their children as each group vies to earn the title. A favorite way to play with the wind, each competitor latches onto an 8-foot diameter parachute-kite and runs headfirst into the wind from a starting line to the finish line – a thrilling time for all!
