Husband and wife duo Mark Sopchak and Jenna Park began their baking company Whimsy & Spice at the launch of the Brooklyn Flea in the spring of 2008. In the years since, Whimsy & Spice has grown, thrived, and expanded. A trained pastry chef influenced by the flavors of international travel, Sopchak handles the baking-side of the company’s operation, while Park manages the graphic design and marketing end, shooting much of the photography for the brand. Viewers will be struck by the New York design sensibility combined with unusual flavors.

Some of their most popular treats are the array of handcrafted marshmallows, Hazelnut Whiskey and Massaman Curry Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies, Early Grey Hot Chocolate Mix, Chocolate Gingersnaps, Espresso Dulce de Leche Brownies, Rose & Black Pepper Thumbprint Cookies, Coconut Five Spice White Chocolate Cookies, and Chocolate Chili Cashew Biscotti. The Honey Lavender Shortbread Cookies and Brown Sugar Gingerspice Shortbread Cookies pair perfectly with their own Hot Chocolate Mix. Sopchak’s satisfying flavor profiles can also be tasted in the Pink Peppercorn Redcurrant Sandwich Cookies and Chocolate Chipotle Caramel Sandwich Cookies.

You can also visit Whimsy & Spice at the Smorgasburg food market in Prospect Park in Brooklyn every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (April through October). The market menu changes seasonally. Along with their online products, the outdoor market menu features hot and cold drinks like Passionfruit Mint Limeade, popsicles, and fudgesicles. Last season’s flavors included Chocolate Curry, Mango Lassi, Mocha Cardamom, and Green Tea Matcha, to name a few.
