Book Talk on German Soldiers and the American Revolution
On October 15 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Washington Crossing State Park will host a presentation on Hessians: German Soldiers in the American Revolutionary War with Friederike Baer. The book examines the experiences of the estimated 30,000 German soldiers (collectively known as Hessians) that participated in the war on the British side.
Baer received a Ph.D. in early American history from Brown University in 2002. She served as a project archivist at the American Philosophical Society and since 2019, she has been on the faculty of Penn State Abington College as associate professor and division head for arts and humanities.
