Adopt a Working Cat from SAVE Animal Shelter
Do you live on a farm or in a rural setting? Do you have a barn or garage that has regrettably become home to some mice? Well, consider adopting a working barn cat from SAVE — A Friend to Homeless Animals.
SAVE likes to remind people that working cats need loving homes, too. While outdoor-loving, barn cats are not a typical adoption, these spayed or neutered athletic felines need a safe space to call home with good (reliable) food, fresh water, and regular veterinary care. In return, they will come to show affection to their owners while keeping the rodent population down.
SAVE will provide cats that are spayed or neutered, feline leukemia/feline immunodeficiency virus negative, and current on vaccinations. It is also recommended that adopters bring home two cats as they do rely on each other for companionship.
The new cats will require at least two weeks in a crate (or other safe enclosure) with a litter box, fresh food, and water daily. The animals will need this time to establish the adopter’s home as their own and to acclimate to their new surroundings. The litterbox will not be needed once they are no longer in an enclosure.
