The Asbury Hotel Reopens June 25
Asbury Park property welcomes guests back with new sanitation protocols, socially distanced spaces, and dining offerings
The Asbury is reopening on June 25 after a temporary closure due to COVID-19. Launched in 2016, The Asbury is an architectural nod to the shore town’s Victorian-era history and rock n’ roll present.
“The Asbury’s reopening is a bright light during what has been a very difficult time for our community,” said CEO David Bowd, owner and operator of the hotel. “We’re ready to welcome tourism back in a responsible and safe way, so that visitors and residents can once again enjoy the local restaurants, bars, and other businesses that make Asbury Park so special.”
In addition to limiting capacity through the peak season, Bowd has worked closely with the governor’s office and the city to introduce comprehensive sanitation measures that comply with guidelines from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. New protocols include adopting medical-grade disinfectants and establishing a three-step decontamination process for every room, making hand sanitizer available in public areas, and reducing touchpoints in guest rooms and common spaces to eliminate potential transmission areas.
The rooftop’s expansive 4,300-square-foot Baronet space (inspired by Central Park’s Great Lawn) is frequently used for summer programming, yoga, cinema nights, and art installations. Overlooking the city, the sophisticated rooftop bar, Salvation, will also reopen to the public with reservations and social distancing guidelines in place. The hotel’s pool, including a mix of cabanas, lounge chairs, and a fire pit will reopen for guest use only.
For guests and locals alike, the hotel is launching a pop-up in front of the property, The Counter Outdoor Café, with socially distanced seating. The café will serve coffee and local snacks such as Juice Basin and Sweet Dani B Couture Cookies throughout the day, as well as drinks and bar snacks in the evening. Inside the lobby, The Counter will be open exclusively to guests for takeout service and the hotel is now offering room service with access to the full menu for the first time.
Catering to a growing trend of working remotely, the hotel has also launched a “WFH: Work From Hotel” package offering complimentary co-working space to hotel guests. The package includes individual workstations with indoor-outdoor flexibility, spaces for private meetings, and amenities like a beach pass to Asbury Park Beach and treats for pets who can come along.
Additionally, opening on June 25 is Danny Clinch’s Transparent Gallery. Attached to the hotel, the immersive art and music venue displays the famous work of Danny Clinch, who has photographed stars from Bruce Springsteen to Tupac and beyond. The gallery will allow 10 visitors inside at a time, while private appointments can also be arranged by contacting Manager Tina Kerekes via tinakerekes@gmail.com.
Room rates start at $265 per night. The hotel will revert to full occupancy as soon as it is safe to do so and permitted by local and state guidelines. For more information, visit www.theasburyhotel.com.
