Tabby’s Place is a cage-free adoption and clinical care center for cats that essentially have nowhere else to go.

Located at 1100 US Highway 202 in Ringoes, the organization was launched in April of 1999 by Jonathan Rosenberg and his wife, Sharon. Today, the nonprofit public charity is home to more than 100 cats. Its long-term vision is to accommodate 400 cats with the installation of several new buildings across the eight acre property.

What distinguishes Tabby’s Place from other rescue organizations is that special needs cats are in the majority, rather than the minority. Also, while adoption is the ultimate goal, no cat is ever turned away or sent away for simply not finding the right owner.

Upon entering the facility, visitors will be struck not only by the number of cheerful volunteers, but also the presence of impressive medical facilities, vet staff, laundry units, and general organization. The cats pepper the hallways and seem to look up and greet every visitor, no matter how difficult their physical constraints. Numerous cats at Tabby’s Place have suffered paralysis to some degree due to being struck by a vehicle. Several more were rescued from international locations. Other common situations are feline immunodeficiency virus

(FIV), diabetes, heart disease, and physical and/or emotional trauma.

As a public charity, Tabby’s Place relies on the generosity of concerned citizens. Donations enable Tabby’s Place to purchase life-saving items like prescription food, kitty litter, diabetic supplies, kitten formula, and emergency and intensive care.
