Philadelphia-Founded Two Robbers Hard Seltzer
By Taylor Smith
Looking for something fresh and new to serve at your next cocktail party? Two Robbers Hard Seltzer just announced the launch of its fourth flavor, Peach Berry, due to be released in January 2020.
Featuring a low carb and zero sugar formulation, Peach Berry joins Orange Mango, Pineapple Ginger, and Watermelon Cucumber. Using a proprietary filtration process, the alcohol in Two Robbers is made from 100 percent cold-fermented cane sugar (in lieu of malted barley or other more calorie-dense ingredients). The resulting formula is a flavorful hard seltzer that contains 5.2% ABV, 110 calories, and zero sugar or sweetener in each 12-ounce can.
Two Robbers was founded by Philly natives Vikram and Vivek Nayar. After spending several years working in finance, the brothers wanted to do something more entrepreneurial. They discovered the hard seltzer category in 2017, and recognized it as a potential market. The two then spent more than a year perfecting their gluten-free, fruit-forward flavors, and officially launched in Philadelphia in early 2019. Two Robbers is brewed at the Yards Brewing Company of Philadelphia and is sold in more than 550 bars and retailers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The unusual brand name stems from the founders having had their apartment broken into not once, but twice, during the course of the year that they were attempting to launch their new company. The thieves were never caught, and the only thing the intruders didn’t take was the formula for their new seltzer recipes. Vivek Nayar drew a rough skeletal-like sketch of one of the robbers on a napkin, and the logo stuck.
